When you start Team Adventure Mode you’ll only be able to play as Team Sonic, meaning Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles.
Keep in mind all characters are playable in every other mode, locally and online, you just won’t be able to play as them in Team Adventure Mode.
You will be able to unlock the other teams, however, and it’s pretty simple. All you need to do to unlock more characters is simply play through the story.
As you make it to new zones you’ll gain access to more teams, gaining the ability to play as Team Rose, Team Blaze, and Team Dark.
For example, after you clear Chapter 1 and make it to the next zone you’ll gain the ability to play as Team Rose. Team Blaze and Team Dark will come later on down the road.
Just keep in mind that every character has a different car and parts, so you’ll need to get different parts for each and every one.
