The Bigger Game – Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Every month, those who subscribe to PlayStation Plus are gifted two free games for use on their PS4.
Usually, one larger game from a bigger developer headlines the list, accompanied by a smaller indie title to appeal to a wide arrange of tastes in their player base.
While the official list for November 2019 has yet to be revealed, we have a few predictions as to what free games might be included based on Sony’s past choices. For next month, we highly suspect Resident Evil 7: Biohazard with be the larger game on PS Plus for several reasons.
Firstly, its common for Resident Evil games to be offered for free on PS Plus. This includes Resident Evil Director’s Cut, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3 in September 2011, Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition in November 2012, Resident Evil Chronicles HD Collection in September 2013, and Resident Evil (PS4) in October 2016.
Secondly, Resident Evil 7 is a PS4 game that also functions with PSVR. Only six PSVR games have been offered on PS Plus, with the the last time being the Wipeout Omega Collection (which was also a PS4 game with PSVR functionality) in August 2019.
However, if there was ever a time of year for a PSVR game to be offered for free on PS Plus it would be October/November as its the anniversary for the original release of PSVR back in 2016 (Oct. 13).
This leads to the final point, being Sony is currently hosting a PSVR Anniversary Sale with dozens of PSVR games being 25-90% off.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is currently 25% off priced at only $14.99. It’s also worth mentioning back December 2017 the game received a permanent price cut of approximately 40% (with taxes) taking it from $59.99 to $29.99. Then in August 2018 it dropped to the price it still holds today, being $19.99.
That lower price range despite it being a well-received AAA title, along with with the 25% off is a pretty big indicator that Sony and developer Capcom wouldn’t mind it being on PS Plus for free alongside the other entries in the series.
Therefore, if you don’t see Resident Evil 7: Biohazard on PS Plus next month, then suspect it sometime pretty soon.
The Smaller Game – Steven Universe: Save the Light
After the bigger AAA game, we usually see a smaller indie title offered on PS Plus as well. And for November 2019, Steven Universe: Save the Light is looking like a likely contender.
Fans of the Steven Universe series from Cartoon Network might have noticed a lot of news has released about the show recently.
A new feature-length movie released on Sept. 2, and during NYCC, show creator Rebecca Sugar announced a new and final epilogue season entitled Steven Universe Future will begin soon. A new title sequence was also revealed, featuring a short rendition of a song from the Steven Universe movie.
The epilogue season will take place after the events of the movie, which itself featured a time skip of two years after the completion of the previous season five finale of the show.
With all this news in mind, it’s not hard to imagine the 2017 RPG title Steven Universe: Save the Light might be offered for free on PS Plus sometime soon.
Save the Light released very early on in season five of the show. It features 14 year-old Steven, compared to the current 16 year-old version of the character.
Many characters fusions that were not revealed before October 2017 are understandably not featured in the game, and many characters have changed drastically with the final season running from May 2017 until January 2019.
Therefore, even though the plot of Save the Light comes from Rebecca Sugar herself and is considered canon alongside the show, fans might not be as likely to pick up the game moving forward to Steven Universe Future.
Offering it for free soon on PS Plus would be best, before the plot of the game becomes too dated for players to consider playing it when so much has happened on the show since its release.
