Mortal Kombat X: How to Play Ferra and Torr

Lackey

This is the only variation of Ferra/Torr where Torr will fight solo while Ferra watches from the sidelines. However, the upside is that Torr will get an enhanced move set. As the name suggests, Torr Charge will allow Torr to dash towards his enemy and knock him to the ground. Back Breaker is a command throw where Torr grabs the enemy and crushes him before throwing him across the screen. Torr Up is kind of like Mortal Kombat‘s version of a Shoryuken where Torr performs an uppercut that launches the opponent into the air. Torr Up is a great setup move for a combo and juggle, and Boulder Roll is a great move to get an extra hit in right before the combo ends. Meter Burning Boulder Roll will give Torr two strikes instead of just one.

Torr alone is a big bruiser who can deal up to 21% damage in a combo with no Meter Burn, making him one of the hardest hitting characters in Mortal Kombat X. The key to dealing the most amount of damage is utilizing his command throws in between attacks and then dashing in for a few more hits before your enemy hits the ground.

Torr Charge: Back, Forward, X

Back Breaker: Down, Back, Forward, Square

Boulder Roll: Back, Forward, Triangle

Torr Up: Down, Back, Triangle

Ruthless

With the Ruthless variation, Torr gets the Pain and Gain ability which increases his damage output. Like he wasn’t dealing enough damage already without it. Deep Stab is a similar command throw to Back Breaker, except Ferra’s the one who stabs the opponent when Torr grabs him. Bowl Girl and Ferra Toss are moves that involve Torr throwing Ferra at his opponent. Bowl Girl is more of a mid-ranged sweeping attack where Torr throws Ferra and trips the opponent up. Ferra Toss is an overhead projectile attack that will allow you to hit your opponent from above, or when they’re ducking. Pain and Gain is the unique ability to the Ruthless variation. With this move, Ferra will slash Torr, taking away a bit of your health in exchange for more damage output.

Most of Ferra/Torr’s combos in this variation are similar to the ones in the Lackey variation except Ferra’s more involved in them now. Your attacks will be slightly faster thanks to Ferra’s speed, but the drawback of this variation is that Ferra can be knocked off Torr’s back. When this happens, you won’t be able to execute some of your combos until Ferra returns to you.

Deep Stab: Down, Back, Forward, Square

Bowl Girl: Back, Forward, Triangle

Ferra Toss: Down, Back, Triangle

Tuck ‘n’ Charge: Back, Forward, X

Pain and Gain: Down, Down, Square

Vicious

Ferra plays a much more active role in the Vicious variation. You’ll get the Little Kutter and Boss Toss abilities, and Ferra also has increased damage. Little Kutter has Torr hold the opponent in place while Ferra stabs him. Hitting either the square or triangle buttons will allow Ferra to continuously stab the opponent and this can deal up to 12% damage with 5 hits. Boss Toss is a mid-ranged attack where Torr throws Ferra towards the enemy and she holds on to him and starts stabbing. This is a great move to mix in with some of Torr’s combos. Executing Boss Toss right after a few punches can easily net you upwards of 20% worth of damage with no Meter Burn at all.

While Vicious Ferra/Torr probably has the highest damage output out of all their variations, there’s still the drawback of not being able to execute some attacks when Ferra gets knocked off. In such a situation, you’ll be limited to Torr’s basic attacks, so it’s still best to be familiar with the moves in the Lackey variation even if you’re not planning on using most of those abilities.

Bowl Girl: Back, Forward, Triangle

Ferra Toss: Down, Back, Triangle

Tuck ‘n’ Charge: Back, Forward, X

Little Kutter: Down, Back, Forward, Square

Boss Toss: Back, Forward, Circle

X-Ray and Finishers

Fatalities:

  • (Close-range) Forward, Back, Forward, Back + X
  • (Mid-range) Down, Back, Forward, Back, Back
  • Brutalities:

  • Run at least three times during the match, kill the opponent with Tuck ‘n’ Charge but the first hit must miss. You must also hold Forward during the attack.
  • X-Ray (L2+R2 with full meter)

Ferra/Torr’s X-Ray attack is the epitome of teamwork. Torr starts off by grabbing his opponent, punching him a few times, and then slamming his head straight into the ground. Torr then picks him up again, deliver a huge blow to his ribs that propels his opponent into the air, and Ferra ends things by jumping off Torr’s back and stabbing the enemy in both eyes.
