Destiny 2: Shadowkeep introduced a new weapon crafting/questing mechanic called the Lectern of Enchantment. This Lectern will allow you to repeatedly quest for new moon weapons. There’s a large slate of these new legendary weapons, so we’re going to break down for you the best new moon weapons introduced in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep.
We’ll begin with some of the just okay weapons that you shouldn’t stress too much about getting, and then dive into some of the more viable options.
Best Legendary Moon Weapons in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep
Meh Tier – Super Situational or Useless Moon Weapons
So the weapons in this category struggle for a number of different reasons. They actually might be fine weapons, but are outclassed by something else in its weapon group that isn’t hard to get, or are actually just trash.
In the case of Loud Lullaby, there are just so many good hand cannons to choose from including Duke, which is a similar feeling hand cannon, that are probably going to be better in most situations. If you get a nice roll on it though and like the way it feels, knock yourself out.
I can say the same pretty much about Every Waking Moment. It’s hard to recommend a SMG that isn’t Recluse right now considering how good Recluse is. Even if you don’t have Recluse, I’d argue that the new Exit Strategy SMG or Huckleberry are still better options.
A Fine Memorial is completely outclassed by Hammerhead, the still reigning champion of legendary machine guns, and Night Terror is well, um, just a sword. Most swords feel the same and this one doesn’t have any super special perks to make it stand out.

Solid Tier – Depends on What You Have
The Moon weapons in this tier either have some perk and stat combinations that make them stand out, or they at least have a good “feel” to them, leading to some ease of use that might be preferable to what you currently have.
Remember, just because you have a meta weapon, it might actually be pretty bad if you have terrible perk rolls on it. Or you just might hate the way that it feels when you shoot it. Ultimately the best weapons in Destiny 2 are the ones you play the best with. Unless, of course, you’re talking about Recluse, the answer is always Recluse.
Tranquility, the sniper, has a lot of desirable perks for both PvE and PvP such as Firing Line, Auto Loading Holster, Field Prep, Fourth Time’s the Charm, etc.
Arc Logic is one of the weapons that just “feels” good. It hits pretty hard but still remains quite stable. Just try and find some perks to increase its range and it should be nice for when you need to run barrier or overload rounds.
If you can’t get a good Dust Rock Blues roll, One Small Step might be easier to grind for and work pretty well in the Crucible with the usual slate of perks that are going to be helpful there. It has 1-2 punch, Slideways, Quick Draw, all of which are going to be great in the Crucible. It’s not a bad PvE weapon either if you are looking for a special ammo weapon in your kinetic slot.
I almost put Dream Breaker in the meh tier because I’m very much a proponent of high impact fusion rifles, especially for PvP, but I have to admit for a short-charge fusion rifle, Dream Breaker looks pretty good. With some solid rolls to improve the range and damage dealing potential, Dream Breaker can be pretty good I imagine if you’re a fan of this style of fusion.
Premonition, similar to Dream Breaker, comes down to whether or not you like high-impact pulse rifles. I personally prefer the adaptive or aggressive burst pulse rifles like Bygones and Blast Furnace respectively, but if you do like the slower firing high-impact pulses, Premonition is a solid one with great perk rolls like Outlaw and Kill Clip.

Must Have Moon Weapons Tier
While most of the new moon weapons in Destiny 2 are at least fun to use, and some of them can be really good and turn into staples you in inventory, the best weapon by far is Love and Death, the grenade launcher.
Although the nerf to Lunas and middle-tree Dawnblade hurt some grenade launches, they are still very much meta in PvE. Love and Death can roll with spike grenades and full court, two crucial perks for dealing great single-target DPS in Destiny 2’s current meta.
If you don’t have a Swarm of the Raven, or even if you do, Love and Death can be an excellent replacement weapon that can slot right in and possibly even preform better for you.
