Generally, both games boil down to survival and trying to find a way to escape from their clandestine hellhole. In The Forest’s case, you’re stuck on some sort of abandoned forest that’s teeming with deadly creatures that want to eat you up.
With hardly any survivors left after the disastrous plane crash, it’s up to you to find a way to survive and ultimately escape the forest.
There’s plenty of resources to collect and items to be crafted as you make your way across the land, and if you look hard enough, you might stumble across the deadly truth behind these infernal cannibals along the way.
That being said, your primary focus falls on staying alive every day and using whatever materials you have at your disposal. We Happy Few fans who love their fair share of horror games should get a kick out of The Forest.
ARK: Survival Evolved

ARK: Survival Evolved takes a more prehistoric turn as compared to We Happy Few, bringing in dinosaurs and all sorts of other primitive beasts in the mix.
This time around, players are brought over to an island that’s roaming with the aforementioned creatures and nothing more.
There are no humans you can count on, so you have to find your own way of surviving the harsh landscape and finding a way out. ARK: Survival Evolved does offer plenty of resources scattered around its abundant world, so there plenty of materials you can craft to keep you safe. Similarly, players will also need to watch out for their other basic meters, such as hunger and thirst.
One pretty cool thing ARK: Survival Evolved has that We Happy Few will probably never have is the ability to tame dinosaurs and prehistoric animals. One way of staying alive is by being friendly with the locals AKA knocking them out and forcibly shoving food into their mouth until they learn to love you. Regardless, making many friends in the game is one great way to earn new resources and even acts as a great way to get around the map.
7 Days to Die

Another cannibal-ridden game, 7 Days to Die introduces actual zombies in the mix this time around. Taking place after the third world war, humanity is in shambles and people are struggling to get by every day, especially with all of the undead roaming rampantly in the streets. Like with most survival games, it’s your duty to pretty much stay alive as you make your rounds and collect food and resources to keep you topped up. It’s obviously much easier said than done, however, with monsters lurking around and ready to make you their personal snack.
7 Days to Die offers a randomly-generated world without the pressure of having to escape. Instead, it’s merely about outlasting the zombies and staying alive for as long as you can. Players will have to be crafty and resourceful while taking advantage of the day/night cycle when out scavenging. 7 Days to Die offers a more terrifying twist in survival games, which is something We Happy Few fans might want to look into.
Don’t Starve

If you’ve been hooked on the whole survival aspect of We Happy Few, look no further than Don’t Starve. This 2D exploration game has you exploring a dangerous world filled with all sorts of hazards and powerful enemies. Players are forced to stay alive as long as possible by maintaining their character’s hunger, thirst, and mental stability, for the most part. With nothing at your disposal, you’ll also have to stay crafty and collect different resources to turn into some useful items and materials.
Similarly, Don’t Starve also includes a day/night cycle that pretty much dictates when and how a player should be roaming around and staying home. Exploring the map without light is definitely one easy way to get yourself killed, after all. Don’t Starve offers a challenge with its randomly generated open world, guaranteeing that each playthrough will always offer a different and exciting experience.

You play as a man named Jack who, after a fatal plane crash, stumbles upon a ravaged underwater city known as Rapture. Guided by a mysterious man named Atlas, Jack must find a way to survive the city and the dangers that come with it.
From a glance, We Happy Few and BioShock share quite the resemblance with their first-person perspective and similar art style. Moreover, both games have themes that overlap with each other, such as how Wellies and Splicers came to be. Both games also offer crafting and resource collecting, and while the first BioShock game doesn’t actually rely on stealth, later installments do expand on it. If you’re looking for a more action-oriented take on We Happy Few, you can’t go wrong with BioShock.
