The New Year is one of the most important holidays in Japan, and the Pokemon Company is celebrating a few years in advance.
They published a video on the official Pokémon Kids TV Japan channel featuring adorable Pikachu wearing kimono appropriately from the Pokemon center in Kyoto, as they celebrate the new year in rather traditional ways. These include the classic Children’s song “Oshogatsu” (Which literally means “New Year”), traditional decorations, Koma Mawashi spinning tops, Kakizome (the first calligraphy written at the beginning of the year), Mochizuki (pounding rice to make mochi), Hanetsuki (a traditional game similar to Badminton), and Osechi (delicious new year dishes served in often beautiful boxes).
